He had devoted his life to farming until his retirement 12 years ago. He was born at St. Stephens Apr. 19, 1861, a son of Martin and Mary Steinmetz. He was married at Frank, Thompson-tp, April 24, 1894, to Catherine Schreiner who survives, with four sons, Urban, Leo, Albert and Lawrence, all of Tiffin, and three brothers and [three] sisters, Mrs. John Phillips, Mrs. Peter Kuebeler, Henry, Joseph and Michael Steinmetz, all of Tiffin, Mrs. Michael Siesel of Monroeville and Louis Steinmetz of Cleveland. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 9a.m. in St. Joseph's Church and burial will be in St. Joseph's mausoleum.
