Obituary of Donald Hoffman, Port Clinton News Herald, Mar 26, 1992 Obituary Notice: Port Clinton News Herald 3/26/92 Donald Hoffman Aug. 5, 1914 - March 25, 1992 Port Clinton - Donald "Buck" Hoffman, 77, 519 W. Third St., died Wednesday at his home. Born in Fremont, he was a son of Michael and Lucy (Cramer) Hoffman. Mr. Hoffman was an advertising manager for the News Herald for 25 years (1940-65) and then was a salesman for Clinton Men's Wear from 1965-79. He was a veteran of Word War II and served with the U.S. Navy. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Church, the Knights of Columbus of Port Clinton and American Legion Post 113 of Port Clinton. Mr Hoffman is survived by his wife of 51 years, Elsie (Krupp) Hoffman of Port Clinton, whom he married Oct. 19, 1940; a son, William Hoffman of Aurora Colo.; daughters, Jean Pearce of Prescott, Ariz., and Marti Hammack of Port Clinton; seven grand- children; sisters, Dody Miesle and Jenny Dorobek, both of Fremont, and Rosie Sorg of Fostoria. A son Donald died in 1946, and two sisters are also deceased. The funeral will be conducted 10:40 a.m. Friday at Gerner & Wolf Funeral Home and 11 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Church. Burial will be at Riverview Cemetery. Visitation will begin 2 p.m. today at the funeral home. The family will be in attendance from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Memorials may be made to Ottawa County Hospice or the Ottawa County unit of the American Cancer Society.
