The Courier [Findlay, OH] 11/24/2007 Charles E. Gaertner Charles E. Gaertner, age 77, of Lima, died at 4:20 p.m. Thursday, November 22, 2007 at Springview Manor in Lima. He was born in Fostoria on June 3, 1930 to the late George C. and Helen (Daugherty) Gaertner. On June 3, 1950, he married Donna Fox and she preceded him in death on May 10, 1990. He then married Edith Weis on Oct. 22, 1994 and she survives. Also surviving are sons, Rev. Dennis Gaertner of Knoxville, TN; Rev. Gary (Sherrie) Gaertner of Media, PA; daughter, Resa (Steve) Puchta of Upper Sandusky; brother, Kenneth (Betty) Gaertner of Black Eagle, Montana; Donna Monday of Arlington; 5 step-children; 11 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Kathy Saltzman; and brothers, Gerald and Jerry Gaertner. Charles had retired in 1995 from the Whirlpool Corporation and had formerly been employed at Dow Chemical. Charles was a 1949 graduate of Arcadia High School. He was a former member of West Independence United Methodist Church switching his membership to the Union Chapel Missionary Church with his move to Lima. Charles spent many years in service to our Lord as a Sunday School Teacher and Elder. He was very active in the prison ministry at Marion Correctional Facility, the Lima City Jail and the Lima Rescue Home. He was also a counselor with the Bill Glass Crusades. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, November 26, 2007 at COLDREN-CRATES FUNERAL HOME, Findlay, with Rev. Mark Bayliff officiating. Burial will be in Knollcrest Gardens, Arcadia. Visitation will be from 2:00-8:00 p.m. Sunday and for one hour prior to the service (10-11:00 a.m.) Monday at the funeral home.
