Flag Day, June 14, 2011, eight members of the Scullville Bible Church "Sr. Saints on the Go" traveled to the Naval Aviation Museum in Wildwood. After a delicious luncheon at the Flight Deck Diner we toured this very interesting "must see" museum in the restored hangar. Also on the premises is the Forgotten Warriors Museum dedicated to our Korean War and Vietnam War Veterans. It was difficult to view this exhibit, mainly comprised of memorabilia donated by Korean and Vietnam War Vets or their families -- notebooks, dog tags, photographs, fatigue jackets and the like with music from the Vietnam War era playing in the background. There was an exhibit of POW and MIA bracelets from the Vietnam War. I wore one years ago. My soldier came home physically in one piece, but I don't know if you are ever the same psychologically. I found it most disturbing, but a poignant reminder of what freedom costs. God bless our troops who gave their all for our precious freedom. R.I.P. John "Ziggy" Ziegler and Denny Spahn, my friends. |
